Frequently AskedQuestions

Find answers to common questions about DisputeAI and the credit dispute process.

Getting Started

What is DisputeAI?
DisputeAI is an AI-powered platform that generates professional credit dispute letters for the three major credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion). Our service helps you create unique, FCRA-compliant dispute letters based on the accounts you want to dispute. We also offer an optional mailing service to print, sign, and mail your letters for you.
How does DisputeAI work?
Simply create an account, purchase credits, and either upload your credit report for AI analysis or manually enter the accounts you want to dispute. Our AI will generate three unique dispute letters (one for each bureau) that you can download as PDFs. You can either print and mail them yourself, or use our convenient mailing service to have us handle everything.
Do I need to know anything about credit repair to use DisputeAI?
No! Our service is designed to be easy to use. Just provide the account information and select a dispute reason, and our AI handles the rest. We generate professional, legally-sound letters that cite relevant FCRA sections.

Credits & Pricing

How do credits work?
1 credit = 1 complete dispute round, which includes 3 unique letters (one for each credit bureau). Each round lets you dispute up to 15 accounts — all included in one credit. Credits are deducted when you generate the letters, not when you create a draft.
What's the difference between Starter and Pro?
Starter is a one-time purchase of 1 credit for $9.97 — perfect for trying the service. You get 1 dispute round covering up to 15 accounts. Pro is a monthly subscription at $29.97/month that gives you 3 credits every month (up to 45 accounts/month), with unused credits rolling over. Pro is ideal if you're going through the full credit repair process, which typically takes 3-6 months of dispute rounds.
Do credits expire?
No! Credits never expire. Whether you buy a Starter credit or subscribe to Pro, your credits stay in your account until you use them. Pro subscribers get 3 new credits each month, and any unused credits roll over.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and other payment methods supported by Stripe, including Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Can I cancel my Pro subscription?
Yes, you can cancel anytime from your dashboard. When you cancel, you keep all unused credits and your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes! We offer a satisfaction guarantee. If you're not satisfied with the quality of the generated letters, contact us within 7 days for a full refund of the credit used.

Dispute Letters

What makes DisputeAI letters different from templates?
Each letter we generate is unique, created specifically for your situation by our AI. Unlike generic templates that credit bureaus can easily identify and auto-reject, our letters use varied language, structure, and arguments while remaining legally compliant.
Why do I need three separate letters?
Each credit bureau (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion) maintains separate records. To dispute an item on all three reports, you need to send separate letters to each bureau. We generate bureau-specific letters with the correct addresses and formatting for each.
What dispute reasons can I use?
We support all common dispute reasons including: Not my account, Account paid/settled, Incorrect balance, Incorrect dates, Duplicate account, Identity theft/fraud, Account too old to report, and more. You can also add custom notes for additional context.
Can I edit the letters after they're generated?
The letters are provided as PDFs ready for printing. If you need changes, you can regenerate the letters with updated information (this will use an additional credit).

Credit Report Upload

How do I get my credit report?
You can get free credit reports from AnnualCreditReport.com (the only federally authorized source). Download your reports as PDFs and upload them to DisputeAI for AI analysis.
Is it safe to upload my credit report?
Yes. We use bank-level 256-bit SSL encryption for all data transfers. Your uploaded credit reports are stored securely and only accessible to you. We extract the account information needed to generate your dispute letters and help you track your disputes over time.
Can I enter accounts manually instead of uploading?
Absolutely! You can manually enter account information if you prefer not to upload your credit report. Our manual entry form captures all the information needed to generate effective dispute letters.

Mailing Service

What is the mailing service?
Our optional mailing service handles everything for you - we print your dispute letters on professional paper, apply your digital signature, include your ID verification documents, and mail them directly to the credit bureaus. No trips to the post office required.
How much does the mailing service cost?
Mailing prices start at $4.99 per letter for standard mail and $16.99 for certified mail. Price varies based on page count. We offer a 5% bundle discount when mailing to all three bureaus at once.
What documents do I need for the mailing service?
Before using the mailing service, you'll need to complete your profile with: your mailing address (return address for the letters), a digital signature (you can draw it on screen), a government-issued ID (driver's license, passport, or state ID), and proof of address (utility bill, bank statement, or lease). These are required by credit bureaus to verify your identity.
Is the mailing service separate from credits?
Yes. Credits are used to generate dispute letters, and the mailing service is an optional add-on with separate pricing. You can always download your letters for free and mail them yourself if you prefer.
How long does it take for letters to be mailed?
Once you complete payment for the mailing service, your letters are typically processed and sent within 1-2 business days.
Can I track my mailed letters?
Yes! You can view your mailing history and order status from your dashboard. For certified and priority mail, tracking information will be provided once available.

After Sending Letters

How do I send the dispute letters myself?
If you prefer to mail letters yourself, download the PDFs, print them, sign them, and mail via certified mail with return receipt requested. This provides proof of delivery. We include mailing instructions and bureau addresses with every download. Alternatively, use our mailing service and we'll handle everything for you.
How long does the dispute process take?
Credit bureaus are required by law to investigate disputes within 30 days (or 45 days if you provide additional information during the investigation). You should receive a response within this timeframe.
What happens if the bureau doesn't remove the item?
If the bureau verifies the item as accurate, it will remain on your report. You can dispute again with additional information or different arguments. Many users find success with follow-up disputes.
Can DisputeAI guarantee results?
No. We provide high-quality dispute letters, but we cannot guarantee that any item will be removed. The outcome depends on the specific circumstances and the credit bureau's investigation. This is true for all credit dispute services.

Dashboard & Tracking

What features are included in the dashboard?
Your dashboard includes dispute tracking, email reminders, follow-up letter generation, CFPB complaint generator, outcome reporting, and AI violation detection. All features are included with every credit purchase at no extra cost.
How does dispute tracking work?
After you mail your dispute letters, mark them as "Mailed" in your dashboard. The system tracks how many days have passed since you sent each letter, helping you know when the 30-day and 45-day response deadlines are approaching.
What are the email reminders for?
We send you email notifications when your disputes are approaching the 30-day deadline (when bureaus must respond) and the 45-day deadline (when you can escalate). This ensures you never miss an important window to take action.
What are follow-up letters?
If a bureau doesn't respond within the required timeframe, you can generate follow-up letters that cite specific FCRA violations. These letters reference the original dispute date and demand compliance with federal law.
What is the CFPB Complaint Generator?
If a credit bureau fails to investigate your dispute properly, you can use our CFPB Complaint Generator to create a detailed complaint for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The generator creates "What Happened" and "Desired Resolution" text ready to paste into the CFPB portal.
How does outcome reporting work?
After receiving responses from the bureaus, you can log the outcome for each disputed account (deleted, updated, verified, or no response). This helps you track your success rate and decide on next steps like follow-up disputes.
Does outcome tracking cost extra credits?
No! Dispute tracking, follow-up letters, CFPB complaint generation, and outcome reporting are all included free with every credit. You only use credits when generating the initial dispute letters.
